Natural Twitter Integration
SEOmoz on Twitter Integration:
[I]f you don’t somehow reclaim those couple thousand tweets you’ve made, all of that content stays with Twitter and gets lost in their archives (which don’t rank) . However, if you figure out how to turn that content into topic-related pages on yoru [sic] own site, then it becomes useful to you. Watch this week’s video to learn some strategies for taking your real-time content and making it work for you.
We love this idea, in fact we already do it; but there is a lot of room for improvement in our methodologies. Currently, we automatically scrape the 90 most recent tweets from our Twitter feed and display them at the bottom of our homepage. This way site visitors can read them, but primarily because they are keyword-rich so search engines love them. But that is the extent of it, for now.
A great idea from SEOmoz is to create pages on your site where related tweets are stored. For instance, if you tweet a lot about design, you could add a new page to your website, http://www.yourwebsite.com/twitter/design, on which you list all of your tweets about design. Further you can either hand select your tweets and integrate manually or you can write a script to parse your Twitter feed and automatically place related tweets on the same page. The great thing about this second option is that once you have written the script to do it, you can create different pages very quickly and easily, e.g. http://www.yourwebsite.com/twitter/php or http://www.yourwebsite.com/twitter/javascript. Expect to see this very soon our site and possibly a Wordpress plugin to boot.
